Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2026

What this is

O-O is a video chess app. You play chess over live video with friends or strangers. The video is peer-to-peer — it goes directly between you and your opponent.

Age requirement

You must be 18 or older to use the matchmaking feature (playing with strangers). Friend games and local games have no age restriction.

Expected behavior

Be a decent human. No nudity, no harassment, no hate speech, no threats. This is a chess game, not a place to be awful. If someone reports you, we'll review it and may revoke your access.

Reporting & moderation

You can report your opponent during or after a game. Reports from multiple independent players may result in temporary matchmaking restrictions that escalate with repeated violations. If you believe a restriction was applied in error, email help@o-o.foo.

The service

O-O is provided as-is. We can change, pause, or shut down the service at any time. We can terminate access for anyone who violates these terms.

Privacy Policy

Video & audio

Your video and audio are transmitted peer-to-peer using WebRTC. They go directly to your opponent's device. We do not record, store, or have access to your video or audio streams.

Game data

Game state (moves, clock times) is stored temporarily in server memory while the game is active. It is not persisted after the game ends or the server restarts.

Reports

When you report an opponent, we log the room ID and timestamp. We do not store personal information like names, emails, or IP addresses.

Local storage

We use your browser's localStorage to remember your age confirmation and to store an anonymous session identifier that helps us prevent abuse. This identifier is a random string — it contains no personal information and cannot be used to identify you outside of this site.
